Man Fired Shots At Person Entering Diner: Hamden Police

A man is accused of firing several shots at a person who was entering a diner in Hamden, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man is accused of firing several shots at a person entering a diner in Hamden last month, according to police. The shooting occurred at about 2 a.m. on Dec. 16 at Three Brothers Diner, located at 1038 Dixwell Avenue, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed Trevon Highsmith fired multiple gunshots at a person who was entering the diner. The person wasn’t injured in the shooting and Highsmith subsequently entered a motor vehicle and fled southbound on Dixwell Avenue, according to Smith.

Det. Joseph Liguori conducted the investigation that to an arrest warrant for Highsmith, who was arrested on Jan. 17.

Highsmith, 24, of Level Street in New Haven, was charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and first-degree reckless endangerment. Highsmith, who was detained on a court-ordered $100,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 31.

The New Haven Police Department assisted with the investigation, according to Smith.
