Man Robbed While Sleeping in Car in Hamden Parking Lot
Police quickly arrested the suspect early Sunday morning.

Hamden police have charged a town man with robbing another man who was sleeping inside his vehicle early Sunday morning in a Dixwell Avenue parking lot.
Police responded to the parking lot 937 Dixwell Avenue at about 4 a.m. on May 3 on the report of a robbery.
A 28 year-old Hamden resident was sleeping inside of his motor vehicle when he was approached by an individual, who was later identified as Jason Brewer, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Smith said Brewer insinuated that he was in the possession of a firearm, while demanding the victim’s belongings. Brewer subsequently stole the victim’s three cell phones.
Moments later, Officer William May arrested Brewer in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Morse Street. Smith said Brewer was in the possession of the victim’s property and was promptly transported to Hamden Police Headquarters.

Brewer, 44, of 229 Goodrich Street, Apartment #3, was charged with first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny. He was detained on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on May 15.
