Man Shoots Roommate After Argument Turns Physical: Hamden Police
Police say the suspect is a convicted felon and there were two children inside of the home at the time of the shooting.

HAMDEN, CT — A Hamden man is accused of shooting his roommate in the leg after an argument turned physical, according to police.
Hamden Police responded to the 100 block of Arch Street at about 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 17 on the report of a shooting.
Moments later, officers located the 43-year-old resident suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Hamden Fire Rescue arrived and rendered medical assistance. The victim was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Smith said investigation revealed that the victim and his roommate Christopher Perez were involved in a verbal dispute.

A physical confrontation ensued, at which time Perez shot the victim, according to Smith.
There were two children inside of the residence when the shooting occurred, Smith said. Perez subsequently fled from the area in his motor vehicle.
Shortly thereafter, Perez was located by the Waterbury Police Department while he was inside of his motor vehicle. Perez was transported to Hamden Police Headquarters.
Further investigation revealed that Perez is a convicted felon, according to Smith.
Perez, 31, of Arch Street, was arrested on charges of first-degree assault, criminal possession of a firearm, unlawful discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and two counts of risk of injury to a minor.
Perez, who was detained on a $200,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 31.
