Man Shot in Buttocks During Gunfire in Hamden: Police

Police say the victim was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by numerous gunshots.

HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man sustained non-life threatening injuries after being shot in the buttocks while he was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by numerous gunshots late Friday night in Hamden, according to police.

At about 11 p.m. on Feb. 3, Hamden Police responded to the area of Saint Mary Street and Alling Street on the report of shots fired.

Responding officers located several pieces of evidence but there were no victims at the scene, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Shortly thereafter, Hamden Police were contacted by Bridgeport Hospital personnel. Smith said officers were advised that a victim who was shot in Hamden was being treated at the hospital.

The victim, a 26-year-old New Haven resident, had suffered two gunshots wounds to his buttocks and his injuries were described as “non-life threatening,” according to Smith.

“Investigation revealed that the victim was seated in the passenger seat of a motor vehicle that was traveling on Saint Mary Street,” Smith said in a press release. “According to the victim, numerous gunshots were fired at the vehicle. He was struck during the gunfire. The operator of the vehicle transported him to Bridgeport Hospital.”

The victim told police that the gunshots were fired from someone seated inside of a gray-colored sedan.
