Man Shot In Chest, Hospitalized: Hamden Police

Police are investigating after a man was hospitalized after being shot in the chest.

HAMDEN, CT — A 25-year-old man was hospitalized after being shot early Thursday morning in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to the area of 1100 Dixwell Avenue around 1 a.m. on the report of a gunshot victim, according to Sgt. Angela Vey.

Officers found the victim, a Meriden resident, who was alert at the time, Vey said. The victim was outside his vehicle and was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to Vey.

The victim was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment, and Vey said as of Friday afternoon police weren’t certain where the shooting took place.

Detectives from the Hamden Police Department Major Crime Unit, and Crime Scene Unit are actively investigating the shooting, according to Vey.
