Man Shot Near Bar In Hamden After Argument: Police
The man, who was hospitalized, had been involved in an argument with someone at the bar before the shooting, according to police.
HAMDEN, CT — A man was hospitalized after being shot near a bar in Hamden early Saturday morning, according to police.
Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Goodrich Street around 12:15 a.m. on the report of shots fired, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Officers found a 43-year-old New Haven resident lying on the sidewalk with several gunshot wounds, Smith said.

The victim was shot multiple times and suffered injuries to his chest and hip, according to Smith.
Smith said Officer Eric Hallstrom provided medical assistance before Hamden Fire Rescue arrived. The victim was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital.

An investigation found that the man was involved in an argument with a patron from Chazmo’s Bar before being shot, according to Smith.
Smith said the person responsible for the shooting left in a vehicle, heading southbound on Dixwell Avenue. A projectile entered Chazmo’s Bar and landed in the bar area, according to Smith.
“Hamden Police have gathered information and expect to make an arrest soon,” Smith said.
