Man Tried To Pull Woman Into The Woods: Hamden Police

Police are searching for a man who tried to pull a 24-year-old woman into the woods Saturday afternoon in Hamden, according to officials.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are investigating after a man tried to pull a woman into the woods Saturday afternoon in Hamden, according to officials.

Police responded to East Rock Park at 190 Davis Street around 12:40 p.m. on the report of suspicious activity, according to Sgt. Angela Vey.

The 24-year-old victim told police that a man approached her from behind as she was walking up the main roadway to East Rock Park.

The victim said the man tried to pull her into the woods, and she began yelling and screaming, eventually causing him to flee into the woods, according to Vey.

The suspect is described as a white/Hispanic man, around 30 to 40 years old with black wavy hair, who was wearing a white shirt with a red stripe on it, and shorts.

Vey said police canvassed the area for the suspect, but were unable to find him.

Police are continuing to investigate, and the case has been transferred to the Hamden Police Department Major Crimes Unit, according to Vey.

  • Avoid distractions such as headphones which can prevent you from hearing potential dangers
  • Be alert, observant and aware of your surroundings at all times
  • Keep your hands free
  • Try to avoid walking alone
  • Walk with confidence and purpose
