Man Tried To Take Girl, 8, Out Of Car At Gas Station: Hamden PD

A woman told police that a man tried to open her car door as she was driving away and she was afraid that he was trying to take her daughter

HAMDEN, CT — Police are investigating after a woman said a man tried to take her 8-year-old daughter out of her car at a gas station Wednesday morning in Hamden.

Police responded to Express Fuel, 1126 Dixwell Ave., at about 9:40 a.m. on Dec. 4 on the report of “suspicious activity,” according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

A 36-year-old Hamden resident told police that a man began talking to her while she was pumping gas. As she drove away, the man attempted to open the rear door of her vehicle, according to Smith.

Smith said the woman’s 8-year-old daughter was in the backseat and she was afraid that he was trying to take her.

The suspect is described as a black man in his late 30s with facial hair and about 6-feet, 3-inches tall and weighing 250 pounds. He was last seen driving an older model, silver-colored Jaguar. The vehicle has right front-end damage, according to Smith.
