Masked Man Robs Businesses at Gunpoint, Steals Clerks’ Cell Phones: Hamden Police
Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred within hours of each other early Sunday morning.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Police Department is investigating two armed robberies that occurred within hours of each other on Sunday morning and in both cases the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money and the clerk’s cell phone.
At about 5 a.m. on Jan. 22, Hamden Police responded to 7-Eleven, located at 1795 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of an armed robbery.
Capt. Ronald Smith said investigation revealed that an individual, described as a black male, who was wearing dark-colored clothing and a ski mask, entered the store wielding a firearm.

The suspect pointed the firearm at the clerk and demanded the proceeds from the cash register. He subsequently fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and the clerk’s cell phone, according to Smith.
The Hamden Police Department K-9 Unit conducted a track with negative results, Smith said.

Then, at about 7:45 a.m., police responded to US 1 Petrol, 1290 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of an armed robbery.
The suspect entered the store, while in the possession of a firearm and ordered the clerk to give him the money from the cash register, according to Smith. He subsequently fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and the clerk’s cell phone.
Officers searched the area but were again met with negative results, according to Smith.
The suspect in that robbery was also described as a black male, who was wearing dark-colored clothing and a ski mask.
