Misplaced Doritos Nearly Ignite Kitchen Fire In Hamden
A bag of Doritos left on a toaster nearly led to a kitchen fire in Hamden, according to officials.

HAMDEN, CT — A bag of Doritos left on a toaster prompted an emergency response and could have started a kitchen fire Wednesday night in Hamden, according to officials.
Firefighters responded to the 300 block of Pine Rock Avenue for an inside smoke investigation, officials said.
“Upon arrival of Engine 2 it was determined that a bag of Doritos was left on top of a toaster,” officials wrote in a post on Facebook. “The toasters lever was accidentally depressed by other items placed on the counter and it could have started a kitchen fire within moments. Luckily the occupant noticed smoke in the kitchen and called 911. We would like to remind everyone never store combustibles on stoves or toasters. #FirePreventionWeek”
