Multiple People Injured in Shooting Outside Hamden Bar

No arrests have been made in a shooting that left at least three people injured, police said.

HAMDEN, CT — Multiple people were injured in a shooting in Hamden early Saturday morning, police said.

Authorities responded to the Highwood Bar and Grill at 903 Dixwell Avenue around 1:30 a.m. for a reported dispute. When officers responded, they were told of possible gunshot victims inside and found one male victim and two females.

The male victim appeared to have been shot twice in his legs, police said. While the two female victims were shot once in their legs. All three victims were treated by Hamden Fire and Rescue and taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital for further treatment.

None of the injuries were life-threatening.

According to police, there was a third female victim who was grazed by a bullet but left the bar before officers arrived.

The victims were shot outside the bar by a man described by police as a black male who is 5-feet-10 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. The man was wearing eye glasses, a red, white and black plaid shirt and a fisherman's type of hat at the time of the shooting. He was last seen running towards Morse Street.

The suspect may have been in the area of the VFW on Morse Street and/or the Highwood Bar & Grill prior to the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Joseph Liguori of the Major Crimes Unit at (203) 407-3190.
