New App To Help Police Fight Crime In Hamden

Residents can share crime-tips, report suspicious activity and aid family members in reporting domestic abuse, drug abuse, bullying.

HAMDEN, CT — The Hamden Police Department will soon unveil a new anonymous, crime-fighting, alert system tool. Tip 411 is a mobile app that allows community members to engage with the Hamden Police Department.

Residents can share crime-tips, report suspicious activity and aid family members in reporting domestic abuse, drug abuse, bullying.

All tips received by the Hamden Police Department remain anonymous.

“Often I’ll be in meetings and hear people say, well, I didn’t want to bother the police,” Hamden Police Chief Thomas Wydra said. “I heard from somebody else well, I want to be anonymous and I didn’t want to get involved so to speak.”

In addition, Tip 411 allows the Hamden Police Department to instantly notify residents about crime trends and crime alerts in their neighborhoods.

Residents can receive notifications that include, suspect and motor vehicle descriptions. The sharing of information will greatly aid the Hamden Police Department in keeping our community safe.
