New Board Of Education Member Appointed In Hamden

The Hamden Board of Education filled the vacancy left by the resignation of Siobhan Carter-David earlier this year.

HAMDEN, CT — Longtime educator Peter Downhour has been appointed to the Hamden Board of Education to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Siobhan Carter-David, according to the New Haven Register.

Carter-David, a Democrat, resigned in August after serving less than a year on the board. She cited disinterest in continuing to participate in what she described as a partisan and harsh environment, the New Haven Independent previously reported.

The Register reported Downhour spent 15 years as a high school social studies teacher for the Amity Regional School district and currently serves as its diversity, equity and inclusion coach.
