Hamden Native Talks About Grueling Process of Becoming New England Patriots Cheerleader
The Patriots picked the 2016 squad following a month-long audition process.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden native, and lifelong New England Patriots fan, Melissa DeChello will get a first-hand view from the sidelines and be part of the action this upcoming season after being named to the team’s cheerleader squad earlier this month.
DeChello, a student at the University of New Haven, recently talked to WTNH News 8 about the grueling tryout process.
The month-long audition process began with open auditions and ended with the annual Patriots Cheerleaders Boot Camp, and selections.
It was her first NFL tryout and DeChello couldn’t be happier with the results, landing with the team she has always rooted for.
