New Era Ninja Gym Opens in Hamden

New Era Gymnastics welcomes all to a Grand Opening Open House at their New Era Ninja Gym and the “New” New Era Gym on April 19, 2015.

After 15 years in their current location at 1180 Sherman Avenue in Hamden, New Era Gymnastics will be growing their business as they open two new facilities.

The New Era Ninja Gym features American Ninja Warrior Finalist Drew Drechsel as the lead instructor. Students age 6 through adult will scale walls, climb ropes, and learn how to use their gymnastics skills to get through obstacles. “I’ve had this idea for a while,” said Thomas Alberti, owner of New Era Gymnastics and New Era Ninja Gym. “There are not any other centers similar to this near Hamden, and we are excited to be working with Drew to make this a reality.”

Drechsel was on seasons 3, 4, 5 and 6 of American Ninja Warrior©. He was a Finalist in season three and a veteran of Mt. Midoriyama. He holds the record for the second fastest time in a preliminary round.

New Era is also opening a brand new gym with a new trampoline and foam pits that will open just down the road at 850 Sherman Avenue. This gym will host the Girl’s Team as well as the After School Girls Program, Birthday Parties and the Preschool Program. “We are fortunate that we outgrew our current space. We could no longer accommodate the number of students wanting to attend our classes,” said Alberti. “The new New Era Gym will be a state of the art facility, offering gymnastics, dance, karate type classes and more.”

The current gym located at 1180 Sherman Avenue will now be an expanded gym for the Boy’s Program and Tumbling for boys and girls.

The festivities will kick off with at 11 am on April 29th at the New Gym with an Open Gym for ages 2 through 12. Gymnasts must be barefoot.

At 12:30 pm, Drew Drechsel and friends will give a demonstration at the New Era Ninja Gym, followed by an Open Gym for ages 6 and up. Ninja Gym participants must wear sneakers.
Food and drink will be available for purchase. All proceeds go to the New Era Parents club to help defray the costs of competitive gymnastics.

11:00 – 11:45: New Gym – Open Gym Ages 2 – 12
11:45 – 12:15: New Gym – Demonstration
12:30 – 1:00: Ninja Gym Demonstration by Drew Drechsel and friends
1:00 – 1:30: Ninja Gym Open Gym Ages 6 and up

Session 2:
1:45 – 2:30: New Gym – Open Gym Ages 2 – 12
2:30 – 3:00: New Gym – Demonstration
3:15 – 3:45: Ninja Gym Demonstration by Drew Drechsel and friends
3:45 – 4:15: Ninja Gym Open Gym Ages 6 and up

About New Era Gymnastics
New Era Gymnastics owner Thomas Alberti started his gymnastics career on the monkey bars of his nursery school in the Bronx. He took lessons and competed through the late 70’s and early 80’s. After a back injury prevented him competing during college, he dedicated his life to not only teaching the best possible gymnastics, but to using gymnastics to teach the lessons of life necessary for success. Fifteen years ago Alberti purchased Nelson’s Gymnastics in Hamden and New Era was born. He vowed then to have a bigger and better place to teach gymnastics.
