Nurse Punched, Robbed In Parking Lot: Hamden Police

A 63-year-old nurse was assaulted and robbed of her purse as she was walking to work early Wednesday morning, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A nurse was assaulted and robbed of her purse as she was walking to work early Wednesday morning in Hamden, according to police.

The robbery happened around 6:15 a.m. in the parking lot of the Arden House at 850 Mix Ave., according to police Capt. Ronald Smith.

The nurse, 63, arrived at work and parked her vehicle in the parking lot, where a light-colored SUV with “bright lights” was also parked, Smith said. As she was walking toward the building, a young man wearing dark-clothing and a ski mask got out of the SUV and approached her, Smith said.

The man tried to grab the victim’s purse and punched her in the chest and shoulder, according to Smith. Two other young men got out of the SUV seconds later and demanded the victim’s belongings, Smith said.

They stole her purse, which contained $300 and credit cards, Smith said. They were last seen driving away in the SUV toward Mix Avenue, according to Smith.
