Obituary: Anthony Stephen Stratton, 82, Of Hamden
Tony was President of the Irish American Community Center in 1995 and was honored as Irish Man of the Year in 2012.

HAMDEN, CT — (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home): Anthony Stephen Stratton "Tony," 82, entered into eternal rest on January 29, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Tony was born in Miskawn Aughnasheelin, County Leitrim, Ireland on October 26, 1941.
A son of the late Patrick J. Stratton and Celia Gormley Stratton. Tony lived in Hamden, Connecticut for 61 years. He worked as a technician for many years with SNET and as a Firefighter with the New Haven Fire Department until his retirement.
Tony was President of the Irish American Community Center in 1995 and was honored as Irish Man of the Year in 2012. He served on the Hamden Democratic town committee for 10 years and was inducted into the Hall-of-Fame for his work for both the town and state in 2009.

Tony’s greatest passion was love for his family and home. His hobbies were playing the violin, listening to Irish music and watching the Irish Games.
Tony was predeceased by Brothers: Joseph, Philip, Patrick, Oliver. Sisters: Ann Beirne and Maura McGuinness (James) Sister-in-law Bridie Stratton, Nephew Joseph and Grand Nephew Michael Torello.

Tony is survived by his beloved wife Eileen of 54 years, four Sons, Kevin (Erika) New Haven, Damian (Carrie) Wallingford, Philip (Elizabeth) Cheshire, Michael (Erin) Glenview, IL and 10 Grandchildren; Connor, Harrison, Ava, Teagan, Michaila, James, Brayden, Ella, Claire, Ethan. Brothers: John (Eileen), Francie (Mary) Gerry (Nancy) Thomas (Helen) and Sisters: Philomena Dolan (Chris) and Kathleen Stretton and several Nieces and Nephews.
Calling hours are Sunday, Feb. 4, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at Saint Paul VI Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
