Obituary: Barbara DiGirolamo Dinan, 75, Of Hamden

She worked as a lunch aide for the Hamden School system and was an organizer for the Girl Scouts.

HAMDEN, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): Barbara DiGirolamo Dinan, 75, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021 at her home. She was the beloved wife of 56 years to John “Jack” Dinan. Barbara was born in New Haven on Aug. 10, 1946, and was the daughter of the late Joseph DiGirolamo Sr. and Rosina “Rose” Grignano DiGirolamo.

She had worked as a lunch aide for the Hamden School system and was an organizer for the Girl Scouts. Barbara was a very active parishioner at St. Rita Church where she greeted and helped church members. She was an Avon representative, enjoyed creating many ceramic pieces and gifting them to family and friends, and enjoyed trips to Cape Cod.

Mother of Mary Sheehan (Thomas) and Diane Paecht (Michael). Grandmother of Kristin Willette (Dylan) and Joseph Paecht. Sister of Maria Masiello (Vincent), Bernadine Morin (Mike Zulawski) and the late Joseph DiGirolamo Jr. Also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she was very close to.

The visiting hours will be Monday morning, Dec. 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Divine Mercy Parish at St. Rita’s Church, 1620 Whitney Avenue, Hamden at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
