Obituary: Barbara M. Brandi, 86, Of Hamden
A teacher in both the West Haven and Hamden school districts, she founded Brandi's Meat Market and Delicatessen with her husband.

HAMDEN, CT — (From Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home): Barbara M. Brandi, 86, of Hamden, died November 4, 2023 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the wife of the late Joseph M.Brandi, Sr. Barbara was born in New Haven July 18, 1937 the daughter of Frank & Anne Siclari Manfredi.
With her husband, she founded Brandi's Meat Market and Delicatessen in 1978 which they operated until 1991 and Joe's Place, a restaurant, until 1994. Barbara was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State College and did graduate work at both Southern and Fairfield University.
She taught in both the West Haven and Hamden school districts. She also worked for the Legion of Christ Bookstore in Hamden. After retiring, she tutored students in the AIS Homework Assistance Program at St. Francis School.

Barbara was a woman of deep faith and an active parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church, Saint Paul the Sixth Roman Catholic Parish. She was past President of the Catholic Charity League of New Haven and involved with the PTA of Hamden Hall Country Day School where she received the Headmaster's Chair Award in 1989.
She loved to cook and bake and cherished the time spent with her beloved grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at both Yale New Haven Hospital and Connecticut Hospice who cared for her in her final days.
Barbara is survived by her son, Michael J. Brandi, of Hamden, and her grandchildren, John, Michael, Vincent, Caitlin and Molly, her sister Patricia Caprolione of Branford, brother-in-law Armand Brandi (Rosalyn) of Georgia, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Julia Clauss, a brother Ettore "Chickie" Manfredi, and a stepson John A. Brandi.
