Obituary: Charles B. Witteman, 83; Formerly Of Hamden

A U.S. Navy veteran, he worked for 30 years with IBM Corporation and then with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home): Charles B. Witteman of North Haven, born February 16, 1940, in New Haven CT, to the late Charles W. Witteman and Anna (Capella) Witteman. A six-year U.S. Navy veteran having served as an Electronics Technician in the Ground Electronics Division at the U.S. Naval Station Bermuda and at The Pentagon with the Naval Command Systems Support Activity as a Cryptographic Device Repairman.

After his Naval service, he was employed for 30 years with IBM Corporation as a Customer Engineer, Program Support Representative, and Senior Systems Engineer. After his retirement from IBM, he worked at Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield as an Application Developer and Printing System Specialist.

He was predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Mary Ann (Civitello) Witteman, and brother William Witteman. He is survived by daughter Lesley Zinsky and granddaughter Leah Zinsky (Robert Zinsky) of Milford, son John Witteman, daughter-in-law Cathy (Skeffington) Witteman, granddaughter Sarah Witteman, grandson Jack Witteman of Hamden and several nieces and nephews.

He enjoyed spending time with family, vacationing in Florida with fiancee Sandra Laslett, traveling, fishing, and visiting casinos. He will be greatly missed by his family for his sense of humor, generosity, and love of life.

Funeral from Sisk Brothers funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden Saturday at 9:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Burial in All Saints Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4 - 8 p.m.
