Obituary: David A. Crompton, 70, Of Hamden
He had a long career with the State of CT where he served as Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services

HAMDEN, CT — (From Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home): David A. Crompton, 70, of Hamden, passed away January 31, 2023. David was born in Hartford in 1952, son of the late Albert and Gertrude (Rioux) Crompton.
He attended the University of Connecticut, where he played varsity soccer and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. He later continued his education in numerous ways, most notably by completing a summer program at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Vicki (Curran) Crompton. He is the brother of Donna Crompton and Dana Crompton and his wife Penny; brother-in-law of Lisa Ryan and her husband John and the late Bill Curran; uncle of Dr. Brian Crompton and his wife Lisa, Michael Crompton and his wife Kelly, and Greg Curran; great-uncle to Annabelle, Anderson, Alex, Evan, and Owen Crompton; nephew of Connie Latinville, Claudette Norris, and Ernest Rioux; and has numerous cousins, especially Denise Laskow & Wally Laskow.

David had a long and varied career with the State of Connecticut, where he served as Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
David was a creative chef, avid reader, diehard Boston Red Sox fan, and faithful follower of the UCONN women’s and men’s basketball teams.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date to be announced. Memorial donations may be made to CT Food Share or Operation Fuel. Arrangements are in care of Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, Hamden.
