Obituary: Desmond ‘Desi’ Bohan, 70, Of Hamden
He devoted many years to coaching youth baseball and being a member of both the board of the Hamden Youth Hockey Association.

HAMDEN, CT — (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home): Desmond “Desi” Bohan, 70, of Hamden, passed away on January 15, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Desmond was born on December 13th, 1952, to Desmond and Myrtle Bohan (Higgins). He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Bohan (Meehan), his three sons, Desmond (Susan) of Hamden, Derek (Lindsey) of North Haven, and Timothy of New Haven, as well as his daughter, Emily (Jay) Adolph of New Haven. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Desmond, Jack, Derek, and Zoe; as well as many siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews of the Meehan family, all of whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Brian, and beloved grandmother, “Grammy Lil.”
Desmond was an employee at the United Illuminating Co for most of his adult life, where he made some of his closest friendships.

Voted “Most Sincere” in his senior year of high school, he kept his circle of friends from his youth close to his heart all throughout his life. He enjoyed reading, history, comic books, cooking, boxing, and art.
He devoted many years to coaching youth baseball and being a member of both the board of the Hamden Youth Hockey Association and the parish council of St. John the Baptist Church. His lifelong goal was to build a family of his own that loved one another and stayed close, a goal which he achieved in abundance.

The family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to Dr. Joseph Kim of Smilow Cancer Center, as well as all the nursing staff that took care of him there.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Rita Church. Friends are asked to go directly to church. Burial in All Saints cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. in Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden.
