HAMDEN, CT — (Contributed): Frank N. Czerwinski, 72, of Hamden, died Aug. 15, 2023. He was the husband of 42 years of Kate Ramunni.

Frank was born in Bridgeport on Dec. 17, 1950 to the late Frank S. Czerwinski and Helen Danko Czerwinski. He graduated from Bassick High School, the Connecticut School of Electronics and the University of New Haven with a degree in electrical engineering.

He worked for several years for Western Electric before being forced to retire early at age 30 due to complications from type 1 diabetes. He spent the next several decades undergoing countless operations and medical procedures and for a time was blind until surgeons at the Yale University Eye Center restored his sight, giving him an additional 20 years of sight he otherwise would not have had.

Eventually diabetes, as well as a bout of Covid in the first year of the pandemic, did steal his sight and his health.

Frank could drive anything, from a riding lawnmower to a massive excavator, which he loved to do. In addition, he was an accomplished guitarist and an amateur radio operator under the call sign N1ZNE.
