Obituary: Fredericke Lee Parris, 85, of Hamden
Fred was the founder and leader of the 5 Satins, was a Grammy Award nominee and inductee into the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home) Fredericke Lee Parris, 85, beloved husband of Emma Holmes Parris of Hamden, passed away January 13, 2022, after a brief illness.
He was the founder and leader of the 5 Satins, known for the immortal classic “In the Still of the Night (I’ll Remember).”
Fred was a 1986 Grammy Award Nominee and was inducted into the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame in 1998. He was also a lifetime member of The Country Music Association and SAG/AFTRA. He proudly served in the US Army from 1955-57 and was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses: Shawn (Lydia) Parris of New Britain, Rene’ (Yvon) Alexandre of Wallingford, Fred (Andrea) Parris of New Haven, his stepdaughter Evonne Johnson of Hamden, and eight grandchildren.
He is predeceased by sisters Marjorie Fowler and Elizabeth Wentt.A private service of remembrance will be held by his family. The family requests no flowers.
