Obituary: George A. Seagrave, 69, of Hamden

George, who was a biker at heart and loved going out on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, was a science teacher at Thomas Hooker School.

George A. Seagrave, 69, of Hamden, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the St. Raphael’s Campus of Yale-New Haven Hospital. George was born in Middletown on October 3, 1948, son of the late Leroy and Evelyn Jonas Seagrave. He is survived by his brother Ronald Seagrave; niece Amy Williams; and great-nieces and nephews Ashley, Lance, Ryan, and Brandon.

George was a biker at heart, he loved going out on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He also loved his red Chevy Corvette. George was an avid photographer; he enjoyed shooting landscapes in nature. George was known as the quietest, gentlest man you could ever meet and he had a fantastic sense of humor. He always treated people with respect and was a gentleman in the purest sense of the word. He was a member of the Elm City Gun Club. Most importantly, George was a science teacher at Thomas Hooker School in Bridgeport. He absolutely loved his profession as a teacher and cared immensely for the kids he taught.

George was looking forward to attending an upcoming benefit ride this fall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in George’s name may be made to Josh’s Ride, a bike ride benefiting the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department. Please send donations to the Huntingtown VFD, c/o Greg Fabricante, 2755 Lloyd Bowen Rd., St. Leonard, MD 20685, indicate "For Josh's Ride" in the memo.
