Ina-Mae Engels Schmidt, 84, of North Haven, passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at her son’s home in Spencer, MA. She was the beloved wife of Harold C. Schmidt and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in November.
Ina-Mae was born in New Haven on August 26, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Alma Hanks Engels. She earned her a bachelor’s degree from SCSU and was a teacher for the Hamden Board of Education for 44 years until her retirement. Ina-Mae loved to knit and was very active with many rabbit organizations throughout New England. Mother of Patrick Schmidt and his wife Charlotte.
