Obituary: Iris Zuk, 83; Formerly Of Hamden

HAMDEN, CT — (Contributed): Iris Zuk of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away on June 11, 2023, at the age of 83 surrounded by her beloved family.

Iris was born on February 25, 1940, in Boston, Massachusetts., to parents Samuel and Mollie Silverman. She was a devoted sister to Evelyn Silverman and Rosalyn Lempert, who both passed far too young. She married the love of her life Robert Zuk in 1961, and they shared 62 beautiful years together.

Their most special moments were spent with their adored family: son Steven and wife Marcy; daughter Rachel Gary and husband Aaron. Her four grandchildren, Molly and Emma Zuk and Spencer and Alex Gary, were the light of her life. Iris also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.

Iris grew up in Roxbury, Massachusetts, and lived most of her life in Hamden, Connecticut, before retiring to Delray Beach, Florida. Prior to retirement, Iris spent over 20 years as Office Administrator for Dr. Alan Weiss and Dr. Barry Weiss.

Iris cherished spending time with family above all else. Her grandchildren raved about her brisket, kugel, and matzoh ball soup. She was an amazing woman with an incredible memory who touched so many lives with her love, kindness, support, loyalty, and willingness to help.

She had a wide circle of friends but made you feel like you were the only one in the room.

Funeral services will be held at Noon on Tuesday, June 13, at Sinai Memorial Chapels, 15120 Jog Rd, Delray Beach, FL 33446 (located in Atlantic Plaza). Interment at Eternal Light Cemetery, 11520 State Rd. 7, Boynton Beach, FL 33473. A Celebration of Life will take place at The Pines of Delray North at the South Clubhouse, 1431 NW 18th Avenue, Delray Beach, immediately following the burial. The family will be sitting Shiva on Wednesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Zuk residence in The Pines of Delray, 1465 NW 18th Street, Delray Beach, Fla.
