Obituary: James H. Carmody, 73, Of Hamden
A U.S. Air Force veteran, he worked for the USPS for nearly 45 years before his retirement in 2021.

HAMDEN, CT — (From Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home): James H. Carmody, 73, of Hamden, passed away December 28, 2022 at Connecticut Hospice after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Sheryl Kozlowski Carmody for 42 years.
Jim was born in New Haven on January 7, 1949 to the late James and Mary Carmody of West Haven. He was the beloved father of Kristin (Chris) Welch of Hamden, Erin (Tyler Coffey) Carmody of East Haven, and James H. Carmody, III of Hamden. Brother of Patricia (John) Molster, Maureen Vets, and Kevin (Rochelle) Carmody, all of West Haven. Grandfather of Cameron James Welch.
Jim is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He was predeceased by brothers-in-law Robert Vets, Raymond Kozlowski, and David White, and his best friend David Salzo.

Jim grew up in West Haven and lived in Hamden for many years. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967-1971 as a Sergeant. He worked for the USPS for nearly 45 years before his retirement in 2021. A majority of those years were in the Mount Carmel Branch. He was currently working at Sleeping Giant Golf Course and the Quinnipiac Arena as an usher.
Jim was an avid golfer, bowler and Jeopardy fan. When his kids were growing up, Jim was an amazing father that loved attending all his kids’ sporting events, whether it be cheerleading, bowling, softball or basketball.

For the last 2 years, nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandson, Cameron.
Friends may visit with his family at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Tuesday, January 3 from 4-7 p.m., and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Paul VI Parish/Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Centerville Cemetery.
