Obituary: John V. Ferraro, 69, Of Hamden

HAMDEN, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): John V. Ferraro, 69, of Hamden, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 15, 2023, with his family by his side, after suffering from dementia. He was the beloved husband of 41 years to Nancy Porto Ferraro, also his caregiver for many years.

John was born in Montesarchio, Province of Benevento, Italy on November 21, 1953, and was the son of the late Constantino “Gus” and Josephine Iannacci Ferraro.

He graduated from Hamden High School and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Connecticut State University.

John had worked for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for 33 years. He was a member of the Amity Club and Unitas Club. John was an avid runner, running in many charitable events; he was an avid New York Yankees fan, enjoyed going to Cape Cod, the gym and Brazi’s Restaurant.

John was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church/St. Paul VI Parish where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Loving father of Jason (Lisa) Ferraro and Mark (Fernanda) Ferraro. Devoted and loving grandfather of Thomas Ferraro. Brother of James (Susan) Ferraro and Frank (Joyce) Ferraro. Son-in-law of Nancy Porto and the late Frank Porto. Brother-in-law of Frank Porto, Jr. and his significant other Randi Bregman. The family is most grateful to Dr. Mark Kasper and the Hospice Home Care Staff.

The visiting hours will be Thursday morning, October 19 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Hamden at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
