Obituary: Joseph A. Tencza Jr., 95, Of Hamden
A U.S. Army veteran, he worked for the former New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroads and the former Stop & Shop Warehouse of North Haven.

HAMDEN, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): Joseph A. Tencza Jr., 95, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at his home with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 68 years to the late Maria “Mary” C. Rossetti Tencza.
Joseph was born in New Haven on April 25, 1927; son of the late Joseph Tencza Sr., and Catherine Federkiewicz Tencza. He served his country faithfully as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, had worked for the former New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroads, and the former Stop & Shop Warehouse of North Haven until his retirement.
Joseph enjoyed leather working, gardening (known for his shallots and garlic) and was a member of the Connecticut Bead Society. Joseph also loved saving recipes on his computer, and searching for rare beads to make handmade jewelry for his daughter. Father of Jean Tencza and Joseph Tencza III. Father-in-law of Scott Yudkin.

Private funeral services have been entrusted to The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Stanislaus Church, 9 Eld Street, New Haven, CT 06511.
