Obituary: Justine McLaughlin Landa, 83; Formerly Of Hamden

NORTH HAVEN, CT — (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home): Justine McLaughlin Landa, 83, of North Haven, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022, after a long illness. Justine was born in New Haven on November 22, 1938, and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Elizabeth McLaughlin.

Justine grew up in Hamden and graduated from Hamden High School in 1956. Jus had an amazing sense of humor and never met anyone she didn’t love and who didn’t love her.

Her greatest joys in life were being a mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted daughter, Stephanie, and son-in-law, William Butler, with whom she resided, her three adoring grandchildren, Alec, Mary Elizabeth (M.E.) and Blake Butler, her loyal grand-dog, Carlos Butler, her brother, Paul (Hedy) McLaughlin, sister, Mary Ellen Smith, sister-in-laws, Patricia, Virginia and Dorothy McLaughlin, and brother, Thomas McLaughlin. She was predeceased by her brothers Joseph, William and Peter McLaughlin. She also leaves a host of beloved nieces, nephews and faithful cousins.

The family sends a special heart-felt thank you to the staff at Whitney Rehab for taking loving care of Justine during the last months of her life.

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Saturday morning, December 3, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave. in Hamden. Her funeral will then proceed to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Ave. in Hamden for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be held privately at a later date. Memorial contributions in Justine's name may be made to the Clelian Center at 261 Benham St., Hamden, CT 06514.
