Laura Elizabeth Trotta, 66, resident of Middletown, passed away on September 23, 2017. Laura was born in New Haven, Connecticut to the late Salvatore and Philomena (Botte) Trotta. She graduated from Hamden High School and went on to Southern Connecticut State University to receive Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Science Education. She taught science at Assumption School in Ansonia, Watertown High School, and Southington High School before retiring in 2012.
Laura loved cooking, especially Italian dishes from the family, and baking. Her great love was earth science and art, and she was able to blend these two loves by creating jewelry made with natural stones and metals, that she sold on Etsy. She loved the Southwestern states, and traveled there collecting native artwork and stones for her jewelry creations. Laura loved to decorate her home, and she had a soft spot for animals, especially cats.
