Obituary: Mary Grace Minck Shea, 93, Of Hamden

She became an active member at the Hamden Senior Center, meeting great friends and helping out with various activities.

HAMDEN, CT — (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home): Mary Grace Minck Shea, 93, of Hamden, passed away peacefully at her residence at Whitney Manor on December 7, 2022. She was born October 27, 1929, daughter to the late Albert and Lucy Minck and raised in Danbury, CT, graduating from Danbury High School Class of 1947. She always attended her high school reunions and continued many friendships in Danbury.

Mary was married to the late Francis J. Shea, Sr. in 1953. They moved to Hamden in 1962 to raise their five children on Manor Street.

Mary retired from Amphenol Spectra-Strip in 1994. After retiring, she spent her time traveling with family and friends and spent her winters in Orlando, FL. She became an active member at the Hamden Senior Center, meeting great friends and helping out with various activities. She always found great joy spending time with her twelve grandchildren and later her eight great-grandchildren.

Mary is survived by her daughter Sue Patrell (Chris), of Cheshire, son Frank J. Shea, Jr. (Denise), of Hamden, Daughter-in-Law Carol Shea, of Merritt Island, FL, and son-in-law Edward Colasanto, of Hamden. Her grandchildren Alexandra Shea, Jamie Angier (Bill), Marcy Gagliardi (Domenic), Joshua Chapman (Madaline), Jason Chapman, Jessica Katz (Phill), Jacqueline Hanabergh (Ken), Catherine Patrell, Amanda Shea, Kevin Shea (Sarah), Kristen Shea and Heather Shea. Eight great-grandchildren, Max, Greg and RJ Katz, Riley, Avery and Joey Angier, James Wedmore, Gwyneth Hanabergh. Mary is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Besides her late husband, Frank, and her parents, Mary was also predeceased by her son Robert Shea, of Florida, Cathy Colasanto, of Hamden, and Karen Chapman, of Hamden. She was also predeceased by her two brothers Albert Minck, of Newtown, CT, and James Minck, of Danbury, CT and her two sisters Ethel Minck and Ann Minck of Danbury, CT.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10:00 in St. Rita Church, 1620 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow in St. Peters Cemetery, Danbury. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are with Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
