Obituary: Michael Salamone, 83, of Hamden

Michael Salamone, 83, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 30, 2017 with his family by his side at the Hamden Health Care Center. Michael came to the United States in 1960. He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Maria Berardi Salamone.

Michael was born in Caselle in Pittari, Provincia di Salerno, Italy on October 12, 1933 and was the son of the late Giuseppe and Caterina Lettieri Salamone. He was a machine operator for Camco Fittings for more than 30 years until his retirement. Michael raised buffalo, rabbits and chickens; he truly enjoyed tending to his garden, baking bread and making pizza and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren whom he loved unconditionally.

Father of Michael (Pamela) Salamone and Joseph (Michele) Salamone. Grandfather of Rebecca, Nicole, Olivia and Michael Salamone. Brother of Donato, Vanda, Antonio, Nicola (Pierina) and Franco Salamone and the late Giuseppe, Filomena and Filippo Salamone. Brother in law of Maria Berardi and the late Francesco and Antonio Berardi. Uncle to Caterina, Cristina and Joseph (Sofia) Salamone. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
