Obituary: Nicholas K. Maratea, 25, Of Hamden
Nicholas, a Hamden High School graduate, was a kind, generous, compassionate, funny and empathetic soul who touched the lives of many.

HAMDEN, CT — (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home): Nicholas K. Maratea, 25, of Hamden, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 at his home.
He is survived by his loving parents, Kenneth and Ellen Bednarcik Maratea of Hamden, a sister Melanie Maratea of Boca Raton, FL, his maternal grandmother Kathleen Bednarcik of Hamden, his paternal grandmother Geraldine Tommaselli of North Haven, his paternal grandfather Robert Maratea and his wife Gail of North Haven, uncles and aunts: John Bednarcik (Wendy), Karen Hunt (Jerry), Robert Maratea Jr. (Patti) and Michael Maratea (Cheryl), cousins: Shannon Hunt, Patrick Hunt, Liam Hunt, Stephen Maratea, Erin Landisio, Jessica Santore, Michael Maratea Jr., and Bryan Maratea. Also survived by many good friends. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather George Bednarcik.
Nicholas was born Feb. 26,1997 in New Haven, was a graduate of Hamden High School and attended Gateway Community College. Growing up he participated in many sports including baseball, basketball and soccer. He enjoyed going to the gym, boxing, and MMA sports. Nicholas was a kind, generous, compassionate, funny and empathetic soul who touched the lives of many. He was genuinely a kindhearted person with both his words and actions

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July, 30, 2022 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden. Burial will be private.
Calling hours at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden will be Friday, July 29, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
