Obituary: Nicholas S. Aurora, 66, Of Hamden

A North Haven High School graduate, he worked as a DMV Emissions Field Representative for the state for many years until his retirement.

HAMDEN, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): Nicholas S. Aurora, 66, of Hamden, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Beloved husband of Sheryl Lavey.

Nick was born in New Haven on February 4, 1956 and was the son of Kathryn Massa Aurora and the late Salvatore Aurora.

A 1974 graduate of North Haven High School, Nick had worked as a DMV Emissions Field Representative for the State of Connecticut for many years until his retirement. Nick enjoyed cooking, Sunday dinners with the family and was a sports enthusiast, especially the New York Yankees and New York Giants.

Father of Nicholas Aurora Jr. (Brooke), Joseph Aurora (fiancé Angela Pasquale) and Gregory Aurora (Marissa). Stepfather of Brian Patchell (Anna Marie) and Jaimie Andrews (Brian). Grandfather of Mason and Roman Aurora, Jonathan, Brendan, Lauren Patchell, Josh Andrews and Christopher Lombardo. Brother of Joanne Serio (Richard), James J. Aurora (Merrilee McFeaters), John A. Aurora (Rose), and Kathy Mendillo (Michael). Brother-in-law of Karen and Phil Mazzone. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his faithful and loving dog Sparky.

The visiting hours will be Monday morning, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Hamden at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
