Obituary: Nilsa Wade, 50, Of Hamden

She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her stories and sense of humor.

HAMDEN, CT — (From Keenan Funeral Home): It is with great sadness that the family of Nilsa Wade, 50, of Hamden, announce her passing.

Nilsa was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on May 22, 1972, a daughter of Santiago Illas SR and Esther Pellot.

Nilsa was such a light in this sometimes-dark world, and she will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. She touched the lives of so many people across multiple generations. During her time with us, she made a point to always help anyone with whatever she could, never second guessing her decision.

Anyone who knows Nilsa, knows that her family meant everything to her and in her eyes each one of you reading this were family. Her love of life was evident in the way she lived. Even just sitting in the backyard turned into a fun time with family, friends and of course food.

She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her stories and sense of humor. She truly brought happiness to everyone’s life.

Nilsa is predeceased by her husband Greg Wade and her brother Santiago Illas.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her daughters Thalia Gonzalez, Yarimar Gonzalez and her son Esteban Gonzalez. Stepchildren Nicole Wade Benson, Ladora Wade Hill, Christina Smith and Gregory L Wade II.

She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Liangeliz Pizzarro, Elijah Luciano, Kayden Cruz, Kaylee Cruz, Iziah Luciano and Jaycob Gonzalez. Her brothers and sisters Marisol Castro (Rigoberto), Omayra Illas, Lisette Illas, Nelson Illas (Amy), Emilio Illas (Liz), Jose Illas, Omar Illas (Yary) and many loving nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
