Obituary: Philomena Mary Stefanoski, 79, Of Hamden

She worked as an accountant for 20 years at Sears & 21 years at Ann Taylor & was a member of Christ Bread of Life Parish (Blessed Sacrament)

HAMDEN, CT — (From Peter H. Torello & Son Funeral Home): Philomena Mary Stefanoski, 79, of Hamden, passed away with her loving family by her side on August 4, 2023, after a brave but short battle against lymphoma.

Philomena was born in New Haven on February 12, 1944, the daughter of Philomena (Monaco) Costanzo and Vincent Costanzo. She leaves behind two loving daughters, Victoria Cassista of Wisconsin and Alexis (John) Burns and cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Kyle, Kayleigh, Joseph, and great granddaughter Summer. Philomena was predeceased by sisters, Domenica “Minnie” Beneveto, Camilla Dearborne and Angelina “Angie” Hile. She is survived by brothers, Anthony “Butchie” (Irene) Costanzo of South Carolina, Louis “Louie” (Marilyn) Costanzo of Seymour, John (Bridget) Costanzo of Hamden and sister Antoinette (Edward) Giannotti of East Haven.

Philly was an avid basketball player throughout her years at Hillhouse High School. She worked as an accountant for 20 years at Sears and 21 years at Ann Taylor. During her life in Hamden, she was a member of Christ Bread of Life Parish (Blessed Sacrament). She was a lifelong Yankees fan but when she wasn’t watching a game, she could be found watching Hallmark Christmas movies, gardening, reading and hanging out with family.

Philomena was incredibly selfless and gave everything she had to her family. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Friends are asked to go directly to Blessed Sacrament Church WEDNESDAY at 10:30 am for a Mass of Christian burial. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org).
