Obituary: Robert Carl Peterson, 89, Of Hamden
He had a huge role in the start-up and organization of the Hamden hockey program before becoming president of the Hamden Hockey Organization

HAMDEN, CT — (From Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home): Robert Carl Peterson, 89, of Hamden, husband of Joan Hubler Peterson, passed away at Yale-New Haven Hospital on July 18, 2023. Born in New Haven on September 1, 1933 to the late Gothard and Pauline Marotte Peterson, Robert grew up in the New Haven area before settling in Hamden, where he and his wife of 69 years raised their family.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he went on to work for SNET for the next 44 years. Robert started with the phone company as a draftsman, working his way up to manager of building construction. Even after retiring, he returned to work for another five years as a consultant for SNET.
Robert had a huge role in the start-up and organization of the Hamden hockey program before becoming president of the Hamden Hockey Organization. It was important to Robert that hockey was available to all boys in town. One of the many ways he made that happen was to collect “retired” equipment and fix it up for players who wanted to play but couldn’t afford to.
