Obituary: Ronald Vanacore Sr., 80, Of Hamden

Ronnie, who served as an MP with the U.S. Army, proudly served the Hamden community for 30 years as a police officer.

HAMDEN, CT — (From Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home): Ronald “Ronnie” Vanacore, Sr., Ret. HPD, passed away after a long illness on December 19, 2023, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Linda McLean Vanacore.

Born in New Haven on May 26, 1943 to the late Ernest and Dorothy Ford Vanacore, he was a lifelong resident of Hamden. After high school he joined the U.S. Army, serving as an MP. Ronnie’s career as a police officer kept him in town, proudly serving the Hamden community for 30 years, especially enjoying any time he was assigned motorcycle patrol.

Besides his wife, Ronnie will be remembered by his sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald Vanacore Jr. and his wife Alisa and Michael Vanacore and his wife Jessica, his beloved grandsons, Logan, Tyler, and Dylan Vanacore, and his sister, Diane V. Nichols, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his nephew, Kevin Nichols. His family would like to thank the staff at Hamden HealthCare for their care and compassion over the past few years.

Friends are invited to visit with his family on Friday, December 22 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT FUNERAL HOME, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden, followed by his Funeral Service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will take place in Hamden Plains Cemetery after the service.

To honor Ronnie’s love of animals and the many pets he had over the years, contributions in his memory may be made to The Animal Haven, 89 Mill Rd., North Haven, CT 06473.
