Outdoor Dining, Pot Regulations Discussed In Hamden
The Planning and Zoning Board discussed both topics at its July meeting. A draft proposal has been unveiled for cannabis regulations.

HAMDEN, CT — At its July meeting, the Planning and Zoning Commission discussed outdoor dining and cannabis regulations.
The board voted to approved extending outdoor dining until at least April 30, 2023. And as for cannabis regulations, Acting Town Planner Eugene Livshits told members that the state has allowed for the sale of legalized marijuana.
"Interested parties can now apply for the appropriate licenses to sell and distribute. The Planning and Zoning department will be drafting a response to this public act," meeting minutes state. "Chairman (Brack) Poitier requested copies of this response, well in advance of the next meeting. He also noted that his main concern is keeping the substance away from schools, and young children. Mr. Livshits confirmed that distance standards will apply and be enforced."

678.2 Hours of Operations

Unless otherwise provided for in this Chapter in in the Town of Hamden Zoning Regulations or
by the Hamden Planning and Zoning Commission Adult Cannabis Retail Establishments shall
only be allowed to operate it retail activities between the hours of 9:00 am until 9:00 pm.
678.3 Distances between Cannabis Retail Establishments
No Cannabis Establishment use shall be permitted to locate, relocate, move and/or operate
within any premise where the outside entrance of such premise is within 500 feet of the property
line of any public, parochial or private elementary or secondary school.
Cannabis Retail locations shall be not located within a 250 foot radius of another Cannabis
Retail establishment. The distance shall be measured from the main public entrance of the
proposed site, established and/or premise to the nearest property line encountered. At no point,
shall more than three (3) Cannabis Retail Establishments be located within a 1500 square foot
radius of each other
