Owner Follows Stolen Car, Teens Arrested: Hamden Police

A homeowner followed his vehicle after it was stolen and two teens were arrested during the overnight hours on Tuesday, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A homeowner followed his vehicle after it was stolen and helped police locate it, resulting in the arrest of two teens during the overnight hours on Tuesday. At about 2 a.m. on June 19, Hamden Police responded to an Old Coach Highway residence on the report of a stolen motor vehicle. Officers were advised that the homeowner was following his stolen vehicle on Shepard Avenue, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Officer Peter Conti saw the stolen vehicle traveling southbound on Dixwell Avenue where the two occupants subsequently exited the vehicle and fled on foot, according to Smith. Officer Keron Bryce and Officer Christina Giori arrested one of the individuals and Conti located the second suspect hiding underneath a parked vehicle, Smith said.

The two suspects are 17-year-old juveniles and both were charged with first-degree larceny and interfering with a police officer. They are both scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on July 10.
