Parking Ban Announced For Street Sweeping In Hamden
A parking ban will be in effect for several streets in Hamden for street sweeping and cleanup, Mayor Lauren Garrett announced.
HAMDEN, CT — A parking ban will be in effect for several streets in Hamden from Wednesday, Aug. 24 through Friday, Aug. 26 for street sweeping and cleanup, Mayor Lauren Garrett announced.
The parking ban will be in effect for Morse St., Goodrich St., Dixwell Ave. (Arch St. to New Haven), Homelands Terrace, Prospect Ln., N Sheffield St., Winchester Ave., Newhall St. (to New Haven), Marlboro St., Shepard St. (to New Haven), Butler St. (to New Haven), Shelton Ave. (to New Haven), Edwards St., St Mary St., Dudley St., and Alling St., according to a news release.
The ban is being proclaimed pursuant to Section 70.34 (13) of the Code of the Town of Hamden. As per this section, “no person shall park or allow to remain parked, any motor vehicle on any portion of any highway to which it applies,” the news release states. “The parking ban shall expire at the conclusion of street sweeping on the listed streets.”

Signs shall be posted on each scheduled street not less than 24 hours in advance of any street sweeping activity and shall remain in effect until street sweeping has been completed. Residents are permitted to park on their street until such time that signs have been posted. Please remain attentive and watchful for signage regarding your street’s scheduled street sweeping activities. Vehicles not removed prior to street sweeping activity will be subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

On Wednesday, Aug. 24, street sweeping will begin, and the following streets will have no parking on the street until work is completed through Friday, Aug. 26:
- Morse St.
- Goodrich St.
- Dixwell Ave. (Arch St. to New Haven)
- Homelands Terrace
- Prospect Ln.
- N Sheffield St.
- Winchester Ave.
- Newhall St. (to New Haven)
- Marlboro St.
- Shepard St. (to New Haven)
- Butler St. (to New Haven)
- Shelton Ave. (to New Haven)
- Edwards St.
- St Mary St.
- Dudley St.
- Alling St.
