Parking Ban, Transfer Station Closure Announced In Hamden

Officials announce a parking ban and other closures that will be in effect due to the anticipated inclement weather in the forecast.

HAMDEN, CT — Town officials are advising residents of the following changes due to the anticipated inclement weather for Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Parking Ban

A parking ban has been issued, effective 6 p.m., until further notice. The ban is being declared pursuant to Section 71.03 of the Code of the Town of Hamden. The parking ban prohibits any person to park, or allow to remain parked, any vehicle on any odd numbered portion of a town street or highway.

The ban further prohibits any person to allow or permit a vehicle to stand or park on any Town street or highway in such a manner as to constitute a hazard or obstruction to vehicular or pedestrian traffic. The Hamden Police Department is authorized, pursuant to Section 71.07 of the Code of the Town of Hamden, to remove any vehicle parked in violation of this ordinance. Such removal shall be at the risk and expense of the owner of the vehicle.

Transfer Station

The Hamden Transfer Station will be closed due to the weather and associated clean-up operations on Tuesday, Feb. 28, until further notice.

Trash Pick-Up

At this time, All American Waste will have regular pick up tomorrow.

Warming Center at Keefe Community Center

11 Pine St., Hamden 06514 (please enter through the George St. parking lot)

The Hamden Warming Center will be open this evening, Monday, Feb. 27, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28. Extending the Warming Center hours due to inclement weather beyond 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28 will be at the discretion of Columbus House.

Brooksvale Park

The Skating Pond at Brooksvale Park is closed.
