The scholarship foundation was established in Todd Massari’s honor by his friends and family after he succumbed to a four-year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia in October 2016.
“Todd would not let his illness deter him from continuing his education and attaining his goals,” says his mother, Rose Massari, “We created this scholarship to give students a greater opportunity to study science because marine biology was Todd’s passion. He loved learning and helping others so this is our way of sustaining that for him.”

In May 2017, the $2,000 scholarship was awarded to Hamden High senior Amelia Lewis, who is currently attending Oberlin College where she plans to major in Environmental Studies.
