Pedestrian, 18, Hospitalized After Struck By Vehicle: Hamden PD

An 18-year-old woman was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while she was crossing the street in Hamden, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A 18-year-old woman was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street Thursday night in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to the 2400 block of Whitney Avenue around 5:45 p.m. on the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.

Officers found the victim in the middle of the road on Whitney Avenue, according to Dolan.

Dolan said the driver remained at the scene.

An investigation found that the pedestrian was crossing the street and not using the crosswalk, according to Dolan.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, Dolan said.

Officer John Glass of the Hamden Police Department Patrol Division is investigating the accident. Any witnesses are asked to contact Hamden Police at 203-230-4000.
