Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle In Hamden: Police

Part of Dixwell Avenue is closed while police investigate, officials said.

HAMDEN, CT — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon in Hamden, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Dixwell Avenue near North Street around 3:30 p.m. on the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.

Dixwell Avenue at North Street was closed in both directions for several hours while police investigated.

The road reopened just before midnight, according to Dolan.

Dolan said the pedestrian was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The victim has been identified as Raekwon McLean, 24, of New Haven, Dolan said in an update Monday morning.

The driver has been identified and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, according to Dolan.
