Kayaker Rescued After Capsizing In Quinnipiac River
Members of the Hamden and North Haven fire departments searched for a reported victim after a kayak capsized in the river, officials said.

HAMDEN, CT — A kayaker was rescued from the Quinnipiac River in Hamden on Tuesday night, according to multiple reports, including WFSB 3.
Members of the Hamden and North Haven fire departments responded around 7:50 p.m. to a report of a capsized kayak, according to WFSB 3.
Hamden fire officials said crews were searching the Quinnipiac marsh off State Street for a “victim reported to be floating down the river in distress” in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

WFSB reports a drone was used to help with the search, and the person was found in the area of Benton Street in distress just as nearby Amtrak employees were pulling them from the water.
The person was found in the water between Sackett Point Road and the Middletown Avenue bridge, WTNH News 8 reported.

No injuries were reported, and the kayak wasn’t recovered, according to WTNH.
