Popular Music Venue, Bar Closes In Hamden
The business, which has been sold to a new owner, officially closed its doors this week.
HAMDEN, CT — In the wake of The Space’s closing in Hamden, The Rough Draft helped keep the local music scene alive for as long as it could but its time is also over. The Rough Draft music venue and bar officially closed its doors this week, according to the New Haven Register.
The Register reports co-owners, and high school teachers, Chris Scionti and Karen Robinson said goodbye to their beloved business this week. The business has been sold to Pete Mould, who is expected to re-open the establishment as the Cellar on Treadwell in a few weeks, according to the Register.
Scionti and Robinson opened The Rough Draft last June after Steve and Jesse Rodgers announced in December of 2017 that the original The Space was closing.

“The Rough Draft wasn’t open that long, but it served its purpose, which was to keep the music scene going in honor of Steve’s original goal,” the owners wrote in a post on Facebook. “It was a fun and wonderful learning experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world. We definitely had some growing pains, we hit some obstacles along the way, and we made some mistakes, but we made it through on the other side with the support and help of a lot of amazing people. Chris and I genuinely thank you all so much. Please be kind to one another and of course, keep rockin’.”
