Popular Pizzeria Temporarily Closes In Hamden After Founder’s Death
The family-owned and operated restaurant has been in business for nearly 40 years.
HAMDEN, CT — Sergio’s Pizza in Hamden will be temporarily closed following the death of its founder, the family announced Wednesday.
“With great sadness we regret to inform that our Dad Lino Bauco the founder of Sergio’s Pizza has passed today,” the family wrote in a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “We will be closed today and tomorrow to be with our family and find comfort thru this difficult time.”
Sergio’s Pizza is a family-owned and operated restaurant that has been serving Neapolitan cuisine for almost 40 years. It is located at 3860 Whitney Avenue in Hamden.

Customers and friends shared their condolences in the comments under the Facebook post. There were more than 220 comments within the first hour of the post.
“Your father and your family brought so much to Hamden when you opened up shop,” one person wrote. “Your family has done so much for the community over the years. Sorry to hear about your dad.”
